As amazing as we are, ginger people have often stumped scientists who just love to figure out the effects that the MCR1 gene has on the body and our behaviour.
One rumour that has developed from this is that redheads have a higher tolerance to pain (I'm not sure I'd agree as I am the biggest wuss on the planet). So is it true? Experimenters from the comedy fact debunking show Duck Quacks Don't Echo, decided to put this theory to the test, here's what they found:
So it appears to be true! Whether or not these tolerance levels can be attributed to the effects of group dynamics (i.e. a team of gingers determined to prove how awesome we are and therefore tolerating more pain than they normally would), can be debateable.
As far as mutant superpowers go, having a higher pain threshold is pretty cool - so long as we use our powers for good and not evil...and at night time because you know...We can't even think about the sun without getting burnt...
