Gingers rule...quite literally

When looking up historical coppertops I was pretty surprised by what I found! If I'm being honest I'm not sure that all the statements made are accurate, but hey I'm just the messenger.

From the explorer Christopher Columbus, composer Vivaldi, and the astronomer Galileo Galilei to the founding fathers George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, it appears that throughout history many of our innovators, royals, rulers and rising stars were redheads.

Paintings depict that the famous female rulers Cleopatra and Boadicea both had red hair, however, it has been claimed that Cleopatra in fact used the plant extract Henna in order to achieve her rufescent ruling hairdo. This is something that can be seen today as the Toupeed Terror Donald Trump seems to have decided to try the ginger side of life....

Unsurprisingly Britain has had it's fair share of famous reds - We are all aware of Prince Harry's "indiscretions" making headlines, however, Royal Rangas making headlines is not a new trait. Others include: Richard the Lionheart, Henry VIII and his daughter Elizabeth I, all are famous for their resilience and strength as well as controversy, rumours and gossip and some temperamental behaviour... These unpredictable yet nevertheless ginger characteristics are not just found in the royals but in politicians too. Oliver Cromwell (famous for the gunpowder plot and the reason for Bonfire Night) and the war-time Prime Minister Winston Churchill were both Matchsticks! (Bonfire / firewor​ks & matchstick pun totally intended)

So why are there so many of us? We are known for our supposed firey tempers and the fact that we apparently have no souls, when these traits are combined is it any wonder that we can become some successful, albeit sometimes ruthless leaders. It could be said that as it isn't as common, our hair is a talking point and therefore something that distinguishes us from the rest of the crowd - this could explain why both Cleopatra and (unfortunately) Donald Trump decided to convert to Team Carrot (but to be fair, can anyone can truly understand the inner workings of Mr Trump?)
